Christine Birch and Carolyn Wilson

Christine is a specialist SEN (Special Educational Needs) teacher and assessor with extensive experience in the field of SEN. She has worked in a wide variety of SEN roles including assessing students for learning difficulties, supporting students with SEN, designing and implementing SEN policy, working as a lecturer on OCR specialist teacher courses and training teachers to help them differentiate appropriately and support students with SEN in class. She recently worked at Cranleigh School in Abu Dhabi for three years working across the whole school as a specialist assessor and SENCo for the year 7 - 13 students. At present, Christine is a director of Aspire-SEN, providing educational assessments and access arrangements assessments for a number of UK academies, government and private schools.

 

Carolyn is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher and assessor with extensive experience working with students from 3 – 18 years. From 2018 – 2022, Carolyn was the Director of Learning Support at Cranleigh School Abu Dhabi and was responsible for the SEN needs of the whole school as well as working as a specialist assessor for children aged 7 – 18 years. Prior to working in Abu Dhabi, she was in charge of SEN at Cranleigh Prep School, Surrey and Edge Grove Prep School, Hertfordshire. She has also led the SEN and EAL (English as an Additional Language) departments at Dulwich International School in Phuket, Thailand. In her early career she qualified as a primary school teacher and has been Head of Department for English, Maths and Science. She holds a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties (Level 7) as well as a Certificate in teaching English to students of other languages (TESOL)Carolyn spent her childhood living in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East so she is very familiar with international education and different cultures and customs. She thoroughly enjoys conducting specialist assessments for students of all ages and nationalities as well as recommending strategies that will enable each child to go from strength to strength so that they can fulfil their potential.
